Q&A for this creative brief
Planned use for animations? Posted by jhbmw007 on 5.23.08
I understand we submit sketches prior to animation- but will the final animations be used for web, tv, or something other? And is the goal to have animations that match the exisiting look of the still images of the kids on their site and packaging?
Specific Needs? Posted by sno0gans on 5.24.08
So this projects requires 6 sketches of characters or the actual animated bios by June 4th?
Planned Use... Posted by Drew on 5.25.08
Final images will have multiple uses, primarily internet. The end animations should match, as exactly as possible, the still images on their site.
Specific Needs... Posted by Drew on 5.25.08
The first round, ending June 4th, is for sketches (and optional creative background) only. The countdown clock on the RFB itself indicates the TOTAL amount of time left in the RFB. (Approximately 2 weeks after the end of the first round).
Thanks!
Flash or streaming video? Posted by jhbmw007 on 5.25.08
Does the client want the animations to be in Flash (like their exisiting intro animation is in) or will they be able to use streaming video? It would be good to know if we need to work in Flash or if we are open to other programs... On that note, why are they looking for new animators- are they wanting something more professional-looking than the Flash animation on their site?
Flash or Streaming Posted by Drew on 5.25.08
Either will be fine, the client will work with the animator they select to get exactly what they need. They need additional animation from what they currently have and are hoping to find a lot of creative talent from our community. Keep in mind it's not just animating the characters in the end you'll have to be creative with their "environments" and personalities.
Thanks!
Character sketches Posted by robsquared on 5.27.08
I have a question pertaining to "Sketches" as referred to on the post made on 05/24/08. By "Sketches" do you mean you want for the candidates to replicate the characters on the site in different poses or do you want the candidates to design 6 completely new characters based on the provided bios?
Sketches... Posted by Drew on 5.27.08
Duplicate the current characters as exactly as possible, these characters are already in use on packaging so we'll need to be able to animate these EXACT characters.
Audio Posted by Quick_Fox on 5.29.08
Will the characters actually speak or can the introductions be animation with music? If the characters do speak, will the audio for the children's voices be provided by the client?
Audio Posted by Drew on 5.29.08
The characters will be speaking, introducing themselves or each other, based on the "scripts" provided in Creative Elements. If you are unable to do the voice over work you should look to collaborate with another artist, or you can submit animation where the character is speaking and, if chosen, your work would need to be completed by another creator. (We/the client would assist in that process).
Thanks!

Hello, I was wondering when the 5 selections will be made by , when those selected will be notified and what is the process from there if selected. Do all 5 teams submit an animation?
Who was picked? Posted by jhbmw007 on 6.09.08
Has anyone been notified yet? It would be good to know b/c 6 animations in 12 days is kind of a tight deadline. And having 5 teams doing complete animations seems silly- does anyone else agree? That's 4 teams doing a LOT of work for no payout... This is the kind of job that usually requires 50% upfront pay.
AGREED! Posted by sno0gans on 6.09.08
teams need to be notified, Anything beyond today means compromising the animations

@ Who was picked... Posted by Drew on 6.09.08
No one has been notified, we have a call with the client to go over decisions tomorrow. It will be "up to" five teams, but we're expecting more like 3. We will likely extend the deadline since the decision has taken longer. As for the number of teams...this is why ALL participants were made aware up front, so that everyone knew ahead of time what they were up against, and how things would work, no one participated under the impression that it was anything different.
Thanks!

Will everyone be notified of their status (picked or not)?

@ just wondering Posted by jhbmw007 on 6.12.08
Nothing here LD. It would be good to hear something very soon personally- schedule is filling up
Update... Posted by Drew on 6.12.08
I have a call this afternoon with Snikiddy Snack to determine what creators the company will be working with. As with all other RFBs only the selected creators will be personally contacted, then, the following day, the rest of the community will be notified via the GeniusRocket Blog.
Thanks!
Is it too late? Posted by blaaqdood on 6.13.08
Hey this is Paul Manning (the guy with Team Kip who wrote about the mix-up) just wondering, is it too late to submit a background?
Who won the animation? Posted by blaaqdood on 8.13.08
Have the Snikiddy people selected a winner yet?
Selection... Posted by Drew on 8.13.08
The plan is to have a final team meeting around the final four submitters on the 15th and to announce the selected creator after that meeting.
Thanks!
